Megan Ferraro and Jayme Toro Named Albertus Magnus College Student-Athletes of the Week

New Haven, Conn. - Senior Megan Ferraro (Branford, Conn.) of the softball team and freshman Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) of the men's lacrosse team have been named as the Albertus Magnus Student-Athletes of the Week. Initiated in September, 2017, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.

Ferraro opened the 2018 season collecting her 39th career win following Sunday's 8-0 win over Alfred State. Over four innings, she allowed three hits while striking out two batters and allowed no walks.

Toro, who was also named GNAC Rookie of the Week, opened his collegiate campaign scoring two goals for two points in the Falcons' 10-9 loss to Emerson. 100 percent of the shots he took were on goal and 66.7 percent found the back of the net. The rookie also scooped up 10 ground balls and was 10-of-23 in face-offs.

The softball team returns to action this week as the Falcons play seven games as part of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. The men's lacrosse team returns to action next week as the Falcons play Mt. St. Vincent's, SUNY Purchase and Mount Ida.
