Falcons in the Community

New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College Athletic Department takes great pride in giving back to local communities and for the fourth straight year, Falcon student-athletes, coaches and administration surpassed the athletic department goal of 600 hours. All of our student-athletes, coaches and administration spent their Thanksgiving and Christmas break volunteering within their community and in total finished with 840 hours.

"Once again the student-athletes, coaches and staff of the Albertus Magnus Athletic Department exceeded this year's community service goal," said Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis. "Having this task over Thanksgiving and Christmas break gave everyone a chance to give back to their local community either as a team or individually."

The men's lacrosse volunteered at the Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run on a rainy day, however, the rain did not stop them from cheering loudly and encouraging runners as well as handing out water. The field hockey, women's lacrosse, baseball and women's basketball team's enjoyed teaching and playing floor hockey, wiffle ball and basketball with students from Truman Elementary school. The men's basketball team spent their time at Lincoln Bassett School assisting the youngsters during lunch, while others, volunteered at their local soup kitchen, assisted with Special Olympics, helped out with a local charity, ran a toy drive and even wrapped presents.
