Wilson, Zdru Awarded Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Shamar Wilson (Runaway Bay, Jamaica) of the men's golf team and Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.) were both recognized as Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.

Wilson had a standout first week, winning medalist in the team's first two events of the season. At the tri-match against Purchase and Dean on September 6 at New Haven Country Club, Wilson shot a 78 (+8) in the first win of the season for the Falcons. The following day at the  Mitchell Invite I at Shennecossett Golf Course, Wilson shot a two-under par 69, including four birdies in the Falcons' second win in as many days. The Falcons also set a program record, shooting a 301. Wilson was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the first week of the season.

Zdru had two double-digit dig performances for the Falcons as she averaged 4.56 digs per set for the week. In a 3-0 win over Purchase on Sept. 7, Zdru had 16 digs to go with an assist and an ace. 

Against Curry on Sept. 9, Zdru had 20 digs and a career-high four aces. She finished the week with five digs against St. Joseph (L.I.). She was named GNAC Libero of the Week.
