Bonilla, Washington Dominate Lehman In Men's Basketball's Fourth Straight Win

BRONX, N.Y. - Antonio Bonilla (Tenafly, N.J.) hit nine threes and scored a season-high 34 points and Justice Washington (Hamden, Conn.) had a double-double with 28 points and 17 rebounds as the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team trounced Lehman College, 107-83 in a non-conference road game on Saturday afternoon.

The win is the fourth straight for the Falcons to open the season as they remain undefeated at 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game started out as a one-possession affair for over the first five minutes as Bonilla and Tazhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) hit back-to-back threes early on to help put Albertus up, 10-8.
  • Albertus looked like it would pull away early, taking five-point leads multiple times until a Bonilla three-pointer sparked a 15-4 run to put the Falcons up, 35-19 at the 7:02 mark in the first. Bonilla hit three of his three-pointers during the run.
  • The Falcons shot 50 percent from the field and 43.8 from three to take a 52-37 lead at the half.
  • Bonilla scored 25 points in the first half, nearly half of the Falcons' points. Washington scored seven in the first 20 minutes.
  • Lehman got the Albertus lead down to ten points at 56-46 with 17:20 remaining in the second half after a layup from Juan Fernandez.
  • Albertus pushed its lead back up to 70-51 after a 14-5 run with five points from Washington
  • The Falcons never let Lehman get any closer than 17 points the rest of the way as they would increase their lead to 30 points at 1:23 after a three from Jarrell Petteway (Windsor, Conn.).

  • It is the 61st time in program history the Falcons have scored 100 points in a game. They last did it on Feb. 21, 2023, in a 128-74 win over Colby-Sawyer, which was also the most points the team scored in a game in program history.
  • Bonilla's nine threes and 34 points were both the second most he had in a game in his career. He made 10 three-pointers and scored 36 in a win over Saint Joseph (Me.) last season.
  • Washington's 28 points were a career-high and his 17 rebounds were the most since tallying a career-high 20 in a win over Dean last season. His 12 offensive rebounds were a career-high.
  • Deivone Tanksley (Hartford, Conn.) grabbed 10 rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. He also had seven points.
  • Jeyson Slade (Stamford, Conn.) led all non-starters with 11 points.
