Joe Caruso concluded his sixth season as the head women's lacrosse coach and his first season as the head coach of the field hockey team.

ALBERTUS WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Due to the cancelation of the 2020 spring season by the GNAC as part of the NCAA's approach to limiting exposure to COVID-19, the women's lacrosse team played just two games that year. The Falcons went 1-1 over the two games, earning a thrilling 16-15 victory over Elms College on March 4.

It was a record-breaking year in 2019 for the women's lacrosse team, as new program-bests were set in wins (6), goals (167), assists (67), points (234), ground balls (349) and saves (169). The season was highlighted by a three-game winning streak to conclude the month of March and the program's first win over Rivier University. Following the season, sophomore Katherin Martinez earned All-Conference honors which was the program's first-ever nod.

Caruso helped guide his team to another successful season posting an overall record of 4-12, tying the program's record in wins. Despite posting a winless record (0-10) in the GNAC, the women's lacrosse team tallied key wins over Bay Path, Newbury, Dean and Mitchell this spring.

In his fourth year at the helm, Head Coach Joe Caruso led the women's lacrosse team to its most successful season, 2017, in program history when the program finished 4-9 on the year. Not only did the Falcons set a new program record in wins, but the team also set a new program record in five statistical categories - goals scored (117/51 GNAC), fewest goals allowed (139), most assists (23), points (140) and ground balls (328). The Falcons finished out the campaign, 1-8, with a solo GNAC win over in-state foe Saint Joseph's (Conn.) back on April 12, 2017.

The team finished the 2016 season with a 1-12 overall record and ended the campaign 10th in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 0-9 mark in league contests. In his third year at the helm of the program, Caruso guided the Falcons to a non-conference victory against Bay Path. The triumph was the first outside of New Haven in school history for Albertus Magnus. During the season, the Falcons scored seven or more goals in a game four times, including twice in conference play.

In 2015, the young Falcons' program went 1-14 with a victory over Bay Path College on March 16.

He led the Falcons in their first-ever varsity season in 2014 as the Falcons recorded two wins in their first season.

On April 13, the Falcons defeated Anna Maria College 19-10 in New Haven for their first varsity win in program history.

Prior to Albertus, Caruso served as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at the nearby University of New Haven.  He was also the head girls' lacrosse coach at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Conn. until 2010.  At Joel Barlow, he also coached freshmen girls' basketball and junior varsity field hockey.

He has been an avid coach for Redding-Easton Lacrosse (RE-LAX), a player development group, while he also worked at the World Class Lacrosse Camps at Wesleyan University and the Nike Field Hockey Camp at Fairfield University.

In addition, he coached at the under-15 girls' level in the Connecticut Nutmeg State Games from 2004 until 2010.
