Falcon Athletes Come Together for Volunteer Campus Clean-Up

Hurricane Sandy, which left a path of destruction, flooding and power outages throughout the East Coast earlier this week, left quite a mess on the Albertus Magnus College campus.  The Albertus Athletic Department, along with many of its student-athletes, quickly sprang into action, setting up a volunteer campus clean-up on Thursday, November 1.

The Falcon athletes grabbed rakes, shovels, brooms and trash bags and set out on a mission to clean up the entirety of the Albertus Magnus campus.  Leaves were cleaned from stairwells and removed from Celentano Field, while sticks and branches that fell from trees were collected, and any trash left behind from the storm was disposed of correctly.  The large amount of Falcon athletes that attended the cleanup allowed the process to be a quick and thorough one as the campus was returned to its pristine shape prior to the storm.

Following the clean-up, the Athletic Department treated the volunteers to pizza and soda to show their appreciation for all their hard work.  Events like this volunteer clean-up allow the College community to see the Albertus Magnus student-athletes’ dedication to their institution.  The athletes will be back at it again on Friday, November 9 as they participate in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee’s (SAAC) annual campus clean-up prior to the College’s Fall Open House.
