Women's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Five

NEW HAVEN, CONN. -  Regis College extended its winning streak by earning a 21-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse contest.

Four players notched hat tricks, led by Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.) and Serenity Ayala (North Brookfield, Mass.) with four goals each. Melinda Carbone (Bedford, Mass.) and Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) earned three goals apiece, with Mason also earning two assists.

Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) scored the first goal of the match just 30 seconds into the match, followed by a goal from Maddey Strickland (Hopkington, Mass.) 25 seconds later. Seven different Regis players scored in the first quarter, as Regis held an 11-0 lead.

The Falcons finally broke through in the second quarter with a goal from Samantha Helwig. The Pride responded with three more goals to extend the lead to 14-1 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Regis scored three goals within a four-minute span. In the fourth quarter, Marley scored on a free position shot followed by three more Regis goals with Strickland earning assists for two of them to close out the scoring.

Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) started the match for the Pride making two saves. Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) relieved Mazo for the final quarter, earning one save.

For the Falcons, Amber DeJonge and Alexys Signor led the team with four groundballs each, while DeJonge also caused three turnovers. Daniella Collea remained in net for the entire match and finished with seven saves.

Regis College (6-1) is set to host Emmanuel College on Tuesday, March 26, starting at 6:00 p.m. Albertus Magnus (0-7) will travel to face Mitchell College Tuesday, March 26, starting at 4:00 p.m.
