Despite two hits from Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.) and two RBI from Jack Pritchard (Orange, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn 10-3 in six innings on Sunday afternoon in Yaphank, N.Y.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Bears improve to 3-0 overall.

Albertus once again scored first as the Falcons posted three runs in the first inning thanks to a two-RBI double by Pritchard and a throwing error which also plated a Falcon. The Bears cut the Falcons' lead to within one with two runs in the bottom of the frame as one hit and two Albertus errors allowed two runs to score.

St. Joseph's added two more runs in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth before capping off its scoring with three runs in the bottom of the sixth led by an RBI triple by Mike Cundari.

The Bears scored 10 runs on 12 hits and committed three errors, while there were nine total errors in the contest, including six by the Falcons.

Senior Matthew Finkenzeller (Wolcott, Conn.) started on the hill for the Falcons as he took the loss after four innings of work. The Bears' Chris Cutrone earned the win after giving up six hits and three runs in a complete game.

Joe Mendez led the Bears with a 4-for-4 performance along with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Falcons return to action when they play Eastern Connecticut State University in a double-header on Saturday, March 9.  The first contest is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y.
