Falcons Cruise to 3-1 Win over JWU

The Albertus Magnus baseball team cruised to a 3-1 victory over Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Tuesday night to take the two-game series.

The win marks the Falcons fifth-straight victory as they improve to 6-7 on the year and 4-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.  With back-to-back losses, JWU falls to 12-7 overall and 2-2 in the league standings.

Albertus' Ryan Fowler (Cheshire, Conn.) improved to 3-0 with the victory as he struck out nine in a complete seven innings of work.  Fowler also gave up just two hits on the night.

Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) finished the contest with an RBI infield single as his hit plated the game's tying run in the third inning before Zak Sokolis (Meriden, Conn.) scored on a wild pitch.  The Falcons' third run of the game came in the same frame as JWU picked up its third error in the inning.

The Wildcats scored their lone run in the top of the second inning.

JWU's John Amodeo took the loss as he allowed just two hits and struck out 12 batters.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday when they host Lasell College in a GNAC doubleheader. The first game of the day is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
