Falcons Cruise to 15-9 Win at Rivier

The Albertus Magnus baseball team used an eight-run fourth inning to cruise to a 15-9 win over Rivier University in game one of the Sunday afternoon doubleheader.

Rivier took an early lead as Matthew Finkenzeller (Wolcott, Conn.) gave up a three-run home run.

The Falcons tied the game in the third when Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) laced a two-run double in the left-center field gap before scoring on an error by the Raiders' shortstop.  Albertus took the lead for good when Shane Osborn (Lake Worth, Fla.) recorded an RBI single before freshman Jordan Kubilus (Cheshire, Conn.) cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the fourth inning.

Kubilus led the Falcons with a 4-for-5 performance and three RBI, while Patrick Dornfried (Berlin, Conn.) added three hits.  Pellegrino finished the contest with four RBI.

Nicholas Pica took the loss for the Raiders as he gave up eight runs on six hits in 3.2 innings.  He falls to 1-4 on the year.

Albertus reliever Mike Hughes (Norwalk, Conn.) earned the win for the Falcons as he moved to 1-1 on the year.  Finkenzeller gave up nine hits and six runs in his start as he put in 3.2 innings of work.
