Falcons Fall to Coast Guard 9-6

The Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to Coast Guard 9-6 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.  The Bears came from behind to earn their eighth win of the season as they improve to 8-2 on the year, their best start in program history.

Albertus (4-7) scored four runs in the third inning led by Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.), Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.), and Ted Gravel (Morris, Conn.).  Each Falcons registered RBI singles in the frame. Coast Guard answered, scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame on no hits as the Bears capitalized on five walks and a hit batter , scoring all three runs on wild pitches.

Later in the contest, Coast Guard used three-consecutive RBI triples to give Coast Guard a 6-4 lead.

Tim Duncan added the Bears' lead with a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

Coast Guard's Justin Rebholz (3-0) worked two hitless innings of relief.

Sedia and Pellegrino each had two hits in the contest, while Sedia finished with three RBI.

Four players toed the rubber for the Falcons in the loss as Jordan Kubilus (Cheshire, Conn.) made the start for the Falcons, going 2.2 innings, while allowing three runs on one hit and three walks.  Jon Criscio took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the year as both Kyle Soules and Mike Hughes threw for the Falcons.

Albertus will host Norwich on Saturday to open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). That  league double-header will be played at Purchase at 4:30 p.m.
