Falcons Fall to Rivier 17-4

The Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to Rivier University 17-4 in game one of the Falcons' Saturday afternoon doubleheader.

Five Raiders registered multiple-hit games in the contest as the host team scored 17 runs. J.J. Montello led the Raiders going 4-for-4 with a double and a home run.  He tallied four RBI and scored four times as well to lead Rivier to its eighth win of the season.

David Cusack contributed with three hits, three runs scored and three RBI for the Raiders as he also registered a home run.

Albertus connected for seven hits in the contest as Mike Saia (Bridgeport, Conn.) finished the contest 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.  His outing also included his first home run of the season.

Freshman Peter Grippo (East Haven, Conn.) registered a pinch –hit single in the sixth inning as he plated one run with a single to left field.

Ryan Fowler (Cheshire, Conn.) took the loss as he allowed eight runs, four earned, on eight hits in three innings of work.  The Falcons' threw four pitchers out of the bullpen in the double-digit loss.

Edward Soucie picked up the win for the Raiders as he allowed just four hits to the Albertus' offense.  Soucie went five innings for the Raiders.
