The Albertus Magnus baseball team fell to Mitchell College in two non-conference contests on Wednesday afternoon as the Mariners took game one with a 4-3 victory before edging the Falcons 5-4 in game two.

Mitchell (17-3) has now won nine of its last 10 games, while Albertus fell to 9-16 on the year.

Mitchell's Bryton Ferris did not allow a hit in the first three innings but Albertus still led 1-0 as Steven Lockman (Wallingford, Conn.) drew a leadoff walk and was sacrificed over to second before taking third on a wild pitch. He later scored on a ground out by Nick Sedia (Bronx, N.Y.) for the game's first run.

The Mariners tied the game in the fifth as Peter McTernan registered a sac fly with the bases loaded.

Albertus took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) that scored Tyler Robertson (Cheshire, Conn.). Mitchell answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good.

Ferris (3-0) threw 6.0 innings and gave up two runs on five hits.  Jon Criscio (East Haven, Conn.) fell to 0-3 on the year with the loss as he went 6.0 innings, while allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits.

In game two, Robertson led off the contest with a double and later scored on a single by Tyler Graziano (Trumbull, Conn.). Mitchell loaded the bases with no outs in the second inning but only got one run across to tie the game.

Albertus scored three runs in the third inning with help from two walks, a hit batter, and an error. The Falcons later scored on a groundout by Justin Poirier (Meriden, Conn.) and a sacrifice fly by Lockman.

The Mariners picked up runs in the fourth and fifth to pull within one. In the seventh inning, with one out, a single and a walk put the tying run in scoring position. After a run scored and an intentional walk loaded the bases, LaLima was hit by a pitch to score the final run of the game.

Domenick Giaramida earned the win, his first career victory.  Aaron Macchia (Utica, N.Y.) took the loss for the Falcons, dropping to 1-1 on the year.

The Falcons will host Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Friday in a 4:00 p.m. league doubleheader at Quigley Stadium in West Haven.
