Baseball Drops Midweek Contest Against Mount Saint Mary College

Hamden, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College baseball team lost to visiting Mount Saint Mary's, 12-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening under the lights at Rochford Field. The Knights won their second games this spring against the Falcons to improve to 8-16 on the year, while the hosts dropped their second straight to move to 7-14 overall.

MSMC jumped all over AMC starter Mike Hughes (Norwalk, Conn.) and chased him from the game after just two-thirds of an innings. In total, the Knights plated six runs in the first to give their starter some breathing room. Mount St. Mary's would later add three runs in the fourth and two in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

On the mound, the Falcons surrendered just nine hits to the guests, but the AMC hurlers issued eight walks and the Albertus Magnus defense committed a pair of errors.

Five different Falcons recorded hits in the game and the team pushed across its lone run in the home half of fourth courtesy of an RBI double by freshman shortstop Mike Browne (New Fairfield, Conn.).

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, April 16, with a road Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at Norwich that gets underway at 1:00 pm. Last spring, the Falcons and Cadets split a doubleheader in West Haven.
