Winthrop, Mass. - Freshman Eduardo Pena (Hamden, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College baseball team has been named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Pena put together a slash line of .421/.429/.789 after going 8-for-19 with six RBI, nine runs scored, a double, two home runs and a walk in a 4-3 week for the Falcons. The rookie was crucial in the doubleheader split with Lasell as the right fielder put together a 3-for-5 effort at the plate to go along with five runs scored, three RBI and a home run. In the GNAC doubleheader split with JWU, Pena was held to only one hit over six at bats, but bounced back going 4-for-8 with four runs scored, a double, a home run and a pair of RBI in the GNAC sweep vs. Rivier.
The baseball team closed out the 2019 regular season with an overall record of 20-13 and earned a spot in the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament beginning on Tuesday, April 30. More information to follow.
