Field Hockey Stumbles in GNAC Opener Versus Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. – The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team suffered a 6-0 road loss to the Raiders of Rivier University on Thursday night to begin its 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) slate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Raiders came out ahead after the first quarter, scoring twice to make it a 2-0 game through one frame.
  • The Albertus defense stiffened up in the second quarter, as it held Rivier to one goal in the period to make it a 3-0 Raiders' lead at the halftime break.
  • The second half mirrored the first, as the Raiders scored two goals in the third quarter and one goal in the fourth to seal a 6-0 home victory.
  • AMC's best scoring chance came with less than five minutes remaining in the game, as after a penalty corner, Madison Duranleau (Wheelock, Vt.) sent a shot toward the cage, but it was blocked to maintain the 6-0 score.
