Askew Leads Falcons to Fifth Straight Win

Providence, RI - Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT/Hamden) led the Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball team to a crucial 83-69 road win against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Johnson and Wales University on Tuesday night.  The win marks the fifth straight for Albertus Magnus. 

Askew scored a team high 27 points and had a game high 11 rebounds to lead the Falcons.  Sophomore forward Mike Massey (New Haven, CT/Hamden Hall) had 10 points and five rebounds while freshman forward Chris Cagle (New Haven, CT/Hillhouse) added 12 points.  Sophomore guard Arshad Jackson (Hartford, CT/Hartford Public) added 11 points and eight rebounds as the Falcons outrebounded their opponents 53-36 on the night.

Johnson and Wales was led by junior guard Lamonte Thomas (Providence, RI/The Met School) had a game high 29 points for Johnson and Wales University.

Albertus took a 35-31 lead into haltime after a relatively even half between both teams.  The Falcons used an 11-4 run early into the second half to take control of the game and never looked back leading by as much as 15 points on the way to a crucial GNAC victory.

The Falcons improved to 14-9, 12-4 GNAC while Johnson and Wales dropped to 15-8, 12-4 GNAC.

Albertus travels to Northfield, VT on Thursday as they take on GNAC opponent Norwich University with a scheduled 7:00 pm tip-off.
