Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) tied his career-high with 35 points as the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team downed Saint Joseph's College of Maine 92-75 on Tuesday night in Standish, Maine.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 10-1 on the year and 5-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Albertus also remains unbeaten in regular-season GNAC play in their last 30 contests, dating back to the 2010-11 season.

In tonight's win, Watson shot an impressive 13-of-16 from the floor, including a 3-of-6 clip from behind the arc, while he added a 6-of-7 showing from the free-throw line. The junior was unstoppable from the field as it was his second-straight game with 30 or more points.

In the first half, after the score was tied at 13 with less than 12 minutes to go, the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to take a 20-13 lead. A three-pointer by the Monks' Steve Simonds cut the Falcons' lead to four at 26-22 before a 9-0 Albertus run extended the Falcons' lead back up to 13. At the break, the Falcons led 48-36.

The Falcons continued to dominate in the second half as the Falcons finished the night shooting 57.4% from the floor and 36.8% from behind the arc.

The Monks, who fall to 7-4 on the year and 3-2 in league action, outrebounded the Falcons 39-27 on the night, while they were led by Simonds with 35 points on a 12-of-18 showing from the field.

Julian Sanders (Trumbull, Conn.) came off the bench for the Falcons and scored seven points, while Lemar Larsen (New Haven, Conn.) tallied 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting along with a team-high nine rebounds.

Albertus scored 23 points off 17 Monks' turnovers.

On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Falcons will host Rivier University in a GNAC match-up. That contest is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
