Falcons Soar to 99-62 Win over Suffolk

Led by six players with double figures, the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team cruised to a 99-62 win over Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday evening in New Haven.

Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.). led all scorers with 18 points as he shot 8-of-12 from the floor.  Lemar Larsen (Waterbury, Conn.) tallied his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Eian Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Kyle Wiggins (Milford, Conn.), and Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) also registered double figures in scoring with 11 points each, respectively, while James Jennings (Stratford, Conn.) came off the bench to score 14 points.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 7-0 on the year and 3-0 in GNAC play.  Suffolk falls to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC.

The Falcons jumped out and opened the game with a 19-7 run thanks to nine points by Ljuljdjuraj. The Falcons controlled the first half, shooting 64.7% from the floor, while Suffolk shot just 26.2%.  The Falcons also hit 5-of-7 from behind the arc as James Jennings (Stratford, Conn.) came off the bench to hit all three of his three-point field goal attempts.

To finish out the first half, the Falcons put together a 14-2 run in the final five minutes of the frame.

Ljuljdjuraj led all scorers with 11 points in the half, while the Falcons went into the break with a 52-28 lead.

Albertus led by as much as 37 points with 1:11 left in the contest, while Suffolk never held a lead.

Davis added eight assists to his stats tally, while Marcus Walker (Newark, N.J.) came off the bench to score nine points and grab eight rebounds as he shot 4-of-4 from the floor.

Suffolk was led by Frantz Pinard with 14 points, while Matt Powers added 10 off the bench.  Chris Williams added eight points in 12 minutes of work. 

Albertus has three weeks off from contests for final exams and Christmas break before facing Division I opponent Central Connecticut State University on Sunday, Dec. 29 in New Britain.  That Division I-Division III match-up is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.  Tickets to the game can be found at CCSUBlueDevils.com.
