Falcons Cruise to 93-56 Win at Rivier

Nashua, N.H. – The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team opened the second semester of play with an 86-69 road victory versus Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Thursday night at Andrews Hall.

The Falcons (8-3, 4-1 GNAC) won their second straight game while Rivier fell to (1-11, 0-5 GNAC).

Senior guard Grant Ellis (Newark, N.J.) led the Falcons attack with a team high 23 points and 9 rebounds. Classmate Shaquille Mitchell (Linden, N.J.) added 22 points on 9-15 shooting for Albertus.  Junior forward Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore guard Ryan Pittman (Stratford, Conn.) were the other Falcons in double figures.  Pittman netted 11 points, while Walters had 14 points and 8 boards.

Two players scored in double figures for Rivier, led by freshman guard Tristen Givens (Windsor, Conn.) with a team high 19 points and 8 rebounds and classmate Joshua L'Heureux (Dracut, Mass.) who scored 11.

Albertus Magnus blew open the game early taking a 17 point lead into the half and did not trail after taking the 5-3 lead early.  The lead would expand to as high as 42 before settling on the final score.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, January 10, with a home conference contest against Norwich that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
