Falcons Soar to 85-57 Win Over Norwich

New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team opened the second semester home slate with an 85-47 home victory versus Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday night.

The Falcons shot an impressive 54.1% from the field and 45.5% from beyond the arc.  Senior guard Grant Ellis (Newark, N.J) filled up the stat sheet with a game high 20 points, game-high 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 assists.  Senior guard Devin Coleman (Bridgeport, Conn.) chipped in 16 points on 6-11 shooting.  Senior guard Shaquille Mitchell (Linden, N.J.) added 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Junior forward Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) and freshman guard Jamerikah Green-Younger (Norwalk, Conn.) added to the balanced Albertus attack with 10 and 9 points respectively.

Norwich University was led by sophomore guard Daniel Haimes (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) who had a team-high 11 points.  Junior forward Darius Bryant (Calhoun Falls, S.C.) added a team-high 8 rebounds to go alond with 9 points in the losing effort.

Albertus Magnus took a 20 point lead into the half and did not trail after taking the 8-7 lead early. The lead would expand to as high as 35 before settling on the final score.  Albertus improves to 9-3, 5-1 GNAC while Norwich drops to 4-8, 1-4 GNAC.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Thursday, January 12, with a road conference contest against Suffolk University that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
