Men's Basketball Tabbed to Finish Second in GNAC Preseason Poll

Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team was tabbed to finish second in the 2018-19 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll. The Poll, which was released Thursday afternoon, is voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.

Albertus received four first-place votes to earn 135 total points and finished just four-points behind defending conference champion and first-place Johnson & Wales University. The Wildcats received eight of a possible 12 first-place votes and 139 points overall.

University of Saint Joseph's (CT) took the third spot in the preseason poll with 113 points while Suffolk University and Saint Joseph's College of Maine claimed fourth and fifth place with 104 and 100 points, respectively.

Finishing sixth in the poll was Regis (Mass.) who totaled 77 points followed by seventh-place Colby-Sawyer College with 75 points. Number eight through 12 in the poll were Lasell College (72), Norwich University (37), Anna Maria College (34), Emmanuel College (31) and Rivier University (19).

The Falcons kick-off the winter campaign in Paxton, Mass. on November 8th as the team takes on Anna Maria College in a non-conference tilt.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
