Danbury, Conn. - Sophomore guard Tyreek Perkins (New Haven, CT) paced Albertus Magnus College with a game-high 28 points and seven boards which included a 4-for-5 showing from beyond the arc as the Falcons defeated in-state rival Western Connecticut State University, 84-79, in the championship game of the Colonial Classic on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior guard Jahmerikah Green-Younger (Norwalk, CT) notched 17 points while rookie center Rayshawn Brewer (New Haven, CT) contributed seven points and pulled down a game-high 10 off the glass for the Falcons.

The visitors would shoot a staggering 8-for-15 (53.3%) on three-point attempts in the first half en route to a 45-41 halftime lead.

The Colonials knotted the count at 50-50 early in the second when Ronald Jefferson knocked down a pair of free throws. WestConn would finish 14-of-17 (82.4%) from the line in the stanza.

Albertus Magnus responded with a 9-0 spurt capped with rookie guard Davon Warner's (New Haven, CT) trifecta. WestConn would trim the advantage to 76-72 when sophomore reserve Legend Johnson (Waterbury, CT) sank a pair from the charity stripe with 1:06 remaining.

However, the Falcons would knock down eight free throws in the final minute of play while Jefferson buried a 35-foot three-pointer at the buzzer to round the scoring out at 84-79.
