Men's Golf Opens Season With Convincing Win at Mitchell Invite I

GROTON, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team got off to a dream start in the 2022 season, taking first place in the four-team Mitchell Invite I, hosted by Mitchell College at the Shennecossett Golf Course.

The Falcons were led by an outstanding debut round from freshman Shamar Wilson (Montego Bay, Jamaica), who finished second in the 20-person field with an even-par 71, just one stroke shy of tying medalist honors. Sophomore Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.) was next on the team with a five-over 76 to place fourth.

NOTES
• Wilson led the way for the Falcons with an even-par 71, shooting a 36 on the front nine and a 35 on the back.
• Wilson's 36 on the front was tied for the best score on the first nine holes at the event.
• Kristofak carded a 38 on both nines to finish fourth with a 76 (+5).
• The duo of David Aquavia (Oakville, Conn.) and Devin Hines (West Haven, Conn.) placed next for Albertus with identical scores of 84 (+13).
• The final Falcon to compete today was Robert Eichelberger (Odessa, Fla.), who placed in a tie for 13th with 19-over 90.
