Falcons Shut Out at No. 13 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team was unable to find its offense in a 7-0 road setback to the No. 13 nationally-ranked Ephs of Williams College on Friday night in Williamstown, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ephs owned a 2-0 lead after the first period, scoring twice in an eight-minute stretch to take the early advantage. Niko Karamanis tallied both the of the opening-period goals, cashing in on a two-on-two opportunity at the 6:16 mark for the first score. He recorded the next goal at the 13:49 mark with a slap shot that just found the top-right corner.

Williams added three more goals in the second period to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the third. Wyatt Glover scored first 6:40 into the period, while Jack Forrest and Will Somers found pay dirt in the second half of the frame.

The Ephs scored two more times in the third period to secure the home shutout, 7-0.

Thomas Walker (Spotswood, N.J.) started between the pipes for the Falcons, the first start of his career, and made a season-high 35 saves in the complete-game effort. Walker has made five appearances this season with 84 saves to his name.

• The Falcons were outshot in tonight's contest by a 42-11 margin.
• Albertus was called for eight penalties for 16 minutes in the box.
• Williams, on the other hand, was dinged for six penalties for 12 minutes.
• Neither team scored on the power play, going a combined 0-for-8.
Alexander Lazier (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) paced the Falcons with four shots.
• The Ephs' Tyler Scott and Nick Altmann led all players with five shots.

NOTEWORTHY
• With the loss, the Falcons drop to 0-6-1 on the road this season.
• Albertus is also 0-5-0 against teams in the highly-completive NESCAC.
• The Falcons have been shutout in just three of their 18 games this year.
• Albertus' 11 shots tonight are a new season-low.
• Walker made a season-high 35 saves.
