Manning Scores Twice In Men's Ice Hockey Loss To Curry

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) scored two goals for the Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team, but the Falcons fell 4-3 to Curry on Saturday evening at Ralph Walker Ice Rink.

Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Wash.) also added a goal for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Manning got the Falcons off to a perfect start, scoring just 22 seconds into the game as beat his defender for a loose puck, and ripped a shot over Curry goaltender Oscar Wahlgren's left shoulder to give Albertus the early 1-0 lead.
  • Curry responded exactly 14 minutes later on a goal from Taurin Haddon-Harris, who scored on a 2-on-1 breakaway.
  • The two teams remained tied going into the first intermission and Curry took its first lead of the game on a power-play as Matt Connor found Gage Dill for a one-timer to put Curry up 2-1 at the 4:53 mark of the second period.
  • Albertus tied the game at the 12:06 mark in the third during a 5-on-3 advantage for the Falcons as Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) found him surrounded in front of the net. Pattison was able to stuff the puck in, making it 2-2. 
  • Connor added a goal four minutes later for the Colonels as his shot found its way through a sea of players and into the net, making it a 3-2 game.
  • Eelis Laaksonen scored on an empty net goal to give Curry the two-goal lead. It took just seven seconds for Albertus to answer as Manning took the puck after the faceoff and raced down for the score to make it a 4-3 game. 
  • Albertus was unable to add another goal after playing 6-on-5 for the final minute of the game.

NOTEWORTHY

  • It was Manning's first multi-goal game and fourth multi-point game of the season.
  • With his assist, Weitzman is now tied for second all-time in program history with 38, tying Alex Gagnon. He is one behind Charles Risk, the school's all-time leader.
  • Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) added his 12th assist on the season. It was also his 50th career point of his career, tying him for fourth all-time in program history.
