Winthrop, Mass. - Freshman middie Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Toro opened his collegiate campaign scoring two goals for two points in the Falcons' 10-9 loss to Emerson. 100 percent of the shots he took were on goal and 66.7 percent found the back of the net. The rookie also scooped up 10 ground balls and was 10-of-23 in face-offs.
The men's lacrosse team returns to action next week as the Falcons play Mt. St. Vincent's, SUNY Purchase and Mount Ida.
