May Selected For NEILA Senior All-Star Game

Amherst, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse standout James May (Branford, Conn.) has been selected as one of the 54 student-athletes who will compete in this year's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game on Friday, May 31st.

The game will take place at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. at 6:00 PM and will feature top graduating students from Divisions 1, 2 and 3. The annual contest gives the seniors one last opportunity to represent their school as well as be honored for their successful careers.

May is one of 12 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players to appear in the game and one of five on the West roster. May left his mark on the men's lacrosse program over the past three years and leaves second all-time is goals with 103 and shots with 384. This season, he led the offensive unit in goals (36), points (42), man-up goals (8), shots (149) and shots on goal (82). Defensively, May registered a career-high seven caused turnovers as well as recorded 11 ground balls. May also finished the season with five hat tricks and scored a game-high six goals against Mitchell College.  

All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA. Players were then ranked and selected by a committee, awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region.

The NEILA East-West game also gives assistant coaches from some of the top programs each year the opportunity to take the reins as the coaching staffs of each team. This year, the West will be coached by Devin Callahan (Eastern Connecticut State), Connor Eschmann (Western New England), Will Roberts (Clark) and Mike Wilus (Plymouth State). The East will be head manned by Rob Murray (Emmanuel), Jon Horgan (Saint Joseph's ME) and Jack Wilson (Curry).
