Men's Soccer Blanks Emmanuel 3-0

The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon with help from senior Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.), who continued to adjust the Falcon record books.

With two goals in today's contest, Howard tied the Albertus Magnus program record of 105 career points, a mark that Jay Hunter tallied in 1992-95. Howard, who became Albertus Magnus' all-time leader in goals scored on Monday, continued where he left off as he registered three or more points for the fourth-straight contest.

Both of Howard's goals came in the second half of play as he extended the Falcons' lead to 3-0. Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) registered the game winner just before the half as he put Albertus ahead 1-0 on a penalty kick, scoring the first Falcons' goal with ease.

Howard's first score of the contest came in the 73rd minute as he finished off a pass from Josue Galo (New Haven, Conn.).  The senior added his team-leading 16th goal of the season as he dribbled by defenders and drilled a shot into the back of the net for an unassisted goal in the 88th minute.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) made three saves for Albertus as he picked up his 13th victory and his fifth shutout of the season. Garrett Charette recorded eight saves for the Saints in the loss.

With today's win, the Falcons improve to 13-2 on the year and remain undefeated in GNAC action, improving to 9-0 in league play. The Falcons' victory also marked their 12th straight.

Albertus will head to Nichols College on Monday, Oct. 17 for a non-conference match scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
