The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team earned a hard fought 1-1 tie in double overtime against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Norwich University on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons outshot visiting Norwich University 32-10 on the rainy afternoon but were held to one goal by stellar play from senior goalkeeper Christian Hallstrom (Las Vegas, Nev.) who had 10 saves on the day.

Sophomore forward Jacob Zimmerman (Wilmington, Vt.) scored an impressive header goal on a well delivered cross by sophomore midfielder DJ Spears (San Antonio, Texas) in the 9th minute to give Norwich the 1-0 lead.  The Falcons would out shoot Norwich 11-4 but trail 1-0 heading into halftime.

Albertus would even the score 1-1 in the 50th minute when sophomore Alex Zapata's (Hamden. Conn.) free kick found the head of sophomore Alexis Garcia (West Haven, Conn.) in impressive fashion.

With just one minute remaining in the first overtime period, Hallstrom made a game saving dive on sophomore Matt Meuller (Cheshire, Conn.) to force a second overtime period.  The second overtime period had two Falcons corner kicks while Norwich held the 2-1 shot advantage but neither team could find the back of the net.

The Falcons remain undefeated on the season with a 3-0-2, 0-0-1 GNAC record while Norwich moves to 2-3-1, 0-0-1 GNAC.

Albertus returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for a non-conference match scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
