Providence, R.I. - The seventh seeded Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team saw their season come to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 setback against second-seeded Johnson & Wales University in the quarterfinal match of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament.
The Falcons fell to the Wildcats for the second time this autumn and suffered their fourth straight loss. Johnson & Wales will take on Norwich at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Three minutes into regulation, Johnson & Wales struck first as Allen Ortiz sent in a crossing pass that Erik Schneider headed in for his sixth marker of the season. With 23:48 left in the opening stanza, freshman Jonathan Beaucejour (Wallingford, Conn.) had an opportunity to tie the score, but his shot would go wide and the visitors would trail by one heading into halftime.
Eight seconds into the second, sophomore Diogo Cruz (Naugatuck, Conn.) tried to get things started for the Falcons as the midfielder tried to find the back of the net against the host keeper Nicolas Mancini, but was unsuccessful.
For the remainder of the game, the Wildcats' backline kept the Falcons off the board, despite four different scoring opportunities, to secure the home win and advance to the semifinals.

- Johnson & Wales held a 20-6 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal.
- The Falcons also had good scoring chances as a pair of their shots hit the crossbar.
- Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Joe Russo (North Haven, Conn.) made seven saves while Nicholas Mancini only had to make one stop to pick up the win and record his 11th shutout.
- Sophomore Cruz (Naugatuck, Conn.) and senior Ritchy Jean Pierre (Fairfield, Conn.) led the visitors with a team-high two shots each, while Cruz recorded the Falcons' only shot on goal.
- Teagan Crake paced the Wildcat offense with six shots, including two shots on goal.
- The hosts posted a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
