Weston, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team earned a tough 2-2 tie against Regis (Mass.) College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Five minutes into regulation, Ken Niyonzima scored the first goal of the game to give the Pride the early 1-0 advantage, but four minutes later Diogo Cruz (Naugatuck, Conn.) would find the back of the net on a penalty kick for his third goal of the season, evening the score at 1-1. Cruz had a chance to put the Falcons on top with another penalty kick opportunity, but his shot was stopped by Regis goalie Jesse Bonilla, keeping the match in a tie heading into halftime.

Albertus put together a scoring threat to start off the second with back-to-back corner kicks. On the second one, Cruz found Abdoul Aremu (West Haven, Conn.), who converted on his shot to put the Falcons on top, 2-1. However, a minute later Regis (Mass.) would even the score at two, 2-2 following a penalty kick from Derek Triana.

For the remainder of regulation, both teams battled sending the game into extra time.

Albertus and Regis battled through two ten-minute overtime periods, but neither team was able to find the back of the net ending the game in a 2-2 draw. The Pride took five shots in the extra 20 minutes while holding the Falcons to just one shot.
