Men's Soccer Draws Westfield State to Open 2022 Campaign

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team opened the 2022 season with a hard-fought 2-2 tie against the Owls of Westfield State. Kelvin Cortez (Meriden, Conn.) and Yahya Kardad (Wallingford, Conn.) led the Falcons on offense with one goal apiece, while Logan Miller (Plainville, Conn.) tallied an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons controlled the action early, ripping off a pair of shots and a corner kick in the first two minutes.
• A foul on AMC led to an early penalty attempt that Mathew Allen converted to make the score 1-0 for Westfield State in the 10th minute.
• Cortez scored on a penalty shot in the 23rd minute for the Falcons' first goal of the young season, which tied the game at 1-1.
• Eight minutes later, Kardad gave Albertus the lead on an assist from Miller to make the score 2-1.
• After a stellar defensive second half, the Owls tied the game at two goals apiece with a goal from Coleby Andrade on an assist from Jacoby Authier.
