Falcons Blank Wheelock 9-0
The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Wheelock College on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.  The Falcons swept their competition and began the afternoon winning all three doubles' matches. 
Marcus Artaiz (Hamden, Conn.) and Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) won No. 1 doubles with a score of 8-2 before Cerrone Bell (New Haven, Conn.) and Matt Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) blanked Wheelock's Claire O'Donoghue and Rosie Camara 8-0.
 
Elvis Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) and Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) added to the Falcons' doubles' victories with an 8-1 win over John Shearer and Lexi Seder.
 
Mezzei led the Falcons in singles' play with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Camara, while Abdulateef also picked up a No. 6 singles victory over Seder with a pair of 6-0 sets. Artaiz won No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 score over Jeff Silveria, while Zacharias earned a win in No. 1 singles as he downed Charles Armstrong-Hicks 6-2, 6-0.
 
Santana won No. 5 singles in a pair of 6-1 sets, while Bell added a No. 3 singles win with a 7-5, 6-4 win over O'Donoghue.
 
Last season the Falcons fell to Wheelock in a close 5-4 match and a year later blanked the Wildcats.
 
Albertus returns to action on Tuesday, April 16 in a 4:00 p.m. match against York in New Haven.
