Men's Tennis Wins 8-1 vs. Vaughn at US Tennis Center

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team improved to 3-2 on the year with a dominating 8-1 win over Vaughn on Tuesday night in Flushing, N.Y. at the U.S. National Tennis Center.

The Falcons swept doubles' play before allowing just one match win in No. 2 singles.

Matt Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) and Dan Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) took home No. 2 doubles with an impressive 8-0 win, while Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) and Elvis Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) also shutout their opponent by a score of 8-0.  In No. 1 doubles, Pete Zacahrias (North Haven, Conn.) and Joe Ineson (Milford, Conn.) defeated Vaughn's Kent Ogisu and Ahmed Aly 8-1.

Zacaharias also won in his No. 1 singles' match, shutting out Ogisu 10-0 in pro sets.  Ineson and Constantinidi won their respective singles' matches with 10-1 scores, while both Santana and Nick Wiehler (Hamden, Conn.) won their singles' matches with 10-0 shutouts over their Vaughn opponents.

The Falcons will head to Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. non-conference match against Sage.
