Falcons Blank St. Joseph's Brooklyn 9-0

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team bounced back from Saturday's loss to blank St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons dominated doubles' play, led by an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles by Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) and Joe Ineson (Milford, Conn.).  Nick Wiehler (Hamden, Conn.) and Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) also won their match 8-0 in the third position over the Bears' Nick Orlando and Javier Bosque.

The Falcons also swept singles' play led by dominating performances by Zacharias, Matt Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.), and Ineson.

Elvis Santana (Bronx, N.Y.) also won in No. 5 singles but the score was kept close.  Santana won the first set in a tiebreaker 7-5 before winning the second set 6-1.

The Falcons head to New London, Conn. on Monday to face Mitchell in non-conference action. That match is set for 3:30 p.m.
