Men's Tennis Remains Unbeaten with 6-3 Win Against the Culinary Institute of America

Hyde Park, N.Y. – The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team defeated the Culinary Institute of America, 6-3, on Monday afternoon in non-conference action. The Falcons remained perfect with the win, improving to 3-0 on the spring, while the Steel dropped their second in a row to fall to 0-2 overall.

Albertus Magnus continued its strong play in doubles action, taking two of three matches to jump out to an early, 2-1, edge. At No. 2, the tandem of junior Daniel Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) and senior Mathew Mezzei (Wallingford, Conn.) cruised to an 8-2 win for their third straight victory. At No. 3, the duo of freshman Steven Woodfield (Naugatuck, Conn.) and senior Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) remained undefeated on the year with an 8-2 triumph.

In singles play, the Falcons took four of six matches to earn the out-of-league win. At No. 1, senior Peter Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) netted a 10-7 win and classmate Cerrone Bell (New Haven, Conn.) scored a 10-8 win at No. 2. Mezzei and Woodfield won the other singles matches for the guests, scoring victories at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, March 29, with a road non-conference clash against Nichols that gets underway at 3:30 pm.
