Falcons Open Season with 3-1 Loss to Mt. St. Vincent

The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team opened the 2015 season with a tough 3-1 loss to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday morning after winning the opening set of the contest. The Falcons won the first set 25-20 before falling in three-straight with scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-20.

Despite the loss, the Falcons were impressive out of the gate.  Led by senior Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.), who saw the ball 43 times as he collected 13 kills in the four-set match, the Falcons registered 26 total kills. Johnson also had two blocks and 11 digs for the Falcons.

Justin Tharau (Burlington, Conn.) dished out 19 assists for the Falcons as he added one service ace, 15 digs and three blocks.

The Dolphins earned the victory with double-digit kills in each set, while Michael Kochen led his team with 13 kills in 29 tries.  TJ Barczik led all players with 20 digs for the Dolphins, while his teammate Brett Holiday contributed with 10 kills in 23 attempts.
