New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College softball team improved to 10-6 on the season as the Falcons shutout Pine Manor College in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon at the Shea Softball Complex.

Junior Laura Anderson (East Haven, Conn.) threw a no-hitter to help lead the Falcons to a 12-0 win over the Gators in game one while senior Kristin Cunning (Hoboken, N.J.) earned her second win on the mound in the Falcons' 9-0 win in game two.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1)

Albertus kicked off game one scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead before tacking on an addition two runs in the bottom of the second to push its lead 9-0.

Freshman Jess Stettinger (East Haven, Conn.) scored the Falcons' lone run in the bottom of the third after hitting her second home run of the season.

Solid pitching from Anderson kept the Gators quiet for the remainder of the game while Albertus scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the final score 12-0.

KEY STATS (Game 1)

  • Anderson also finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.
  • Aubrey DeFoe (Watertown, Conn.), Kayla Gosselin (Milford, Conn.), Maxine Sanchez (Corona, N.Y.) and Stettinger also finished the game with two hits apiece.
  • DeFoe and Madison LaBossiere (Griswold, Conn.) each tallied two RBI.
  • Anderson recorded her third shutout of the year.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)

The Falcons took control early scoring six runs on four hits and three Gators errors before adding two more runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-0 lead. 

The Falcons' final run of the game was behind a RBI from Cunning who allowed freshman Erin Dighello (Wallingford, Conn.) to score from third.

KEY STATS (Game 2)

  • Cunning, DeFoe and Marissa Guglielmi (Branford, Conn.) each tallied a team-high two hits while DeFoe finished with a game-high three RBI.
  • Cunning and DeFoe also finished with two runs scored.
  • On the mound, Cunning posted a season-high nine strikeouts and allowed just one-hit.
