Ed Emielita concluded his 12th year as the head softball coach at Albertus Magnus College.

The softball team competed in a full schedule in 2022 for the first time in the last three seasons and finished with an outstanding final record of 29-11, and a conference mark of 15-3, advancing to the conference semifinals for the second year in a row. During the campaign, Emielita guided his team to a 24-game winning streak, which was both a program record and one of the longest winning streaks in the NCAA this season. His team also posted a program-record 20 home game winning streak. On March 27th in the Falcons 8-0 win against Curry College, Coach Emielita earned his 200th career win.

The Falcons earned the top seed of the South Division in the 2022 GNAC Tournament and fell in the semifinal round to Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. Following the spectacular spring campaign, the Falcons had five players - Ivy Geloso, Jess Stettinger, Janelle Franklin, Erin Dighello, and Skylar Arent-earn all-conference honors.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the softball team competed in a limited schedule and finished with an overall mark of 12-6 and a league record of 11-3, advancing the team to the GNAC Tournament. The Falcons earned the fourth seed in the 2021 tournament and faced Rivier University in the first round and Emmanuel (Mass.) in a single-elimination game. Under Emielita's guidance, he had three players - Laura Anderson, Jess Stettinger, and Ivy Geloso - earn GNAC All-Conference honors.

Coach Emielita's 10th season was cut short due to the cancelation of the 2020 spring campaign by the GNAC as part of the NCAA's approach to limiting exposure to COVID-19. The Falcons played just 10 games, going 6-4 during their spring trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

In the spring of 2019, the softball team made its sixth straight GNAC Tournament appearance thanks to a league mark of 8-7 as well as finished with an overall record of 19-17. Following the spring campaign, the Falcons had two players - Kayla Resto and Jess Stettinger - earn GNAC All-Conference honors.

In his eighth season, Emielita guided the team to its fifth straight GNAC Tournament appearance after earning the fifth seed thanks to a 15-10 league mark. For the sixth time in program history, the Falcons cracked the 20-win plateau mark (23-17), including a nine-game winning streak to conclude the month of March.

Emielita had three players - Gillian Fortier, Aliza Esposito, and Laura Anderson - named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference team.

It was a record-breaking year in 2017 for the Falcons, as new-program-bests were set and the team earned the No. 4 seed in the GNAC Tournament thanks to a 13-7 conference mark. Following this impressive season, the team topped the 20-win plateau for the third straight season and fifth all-time in program history. The Falcons also set a season-best nine-game unbeaten streak in the month of April.

In his seventh season, Emielita earned his 100th career victory in a 7-0 thumping of SUNY Canton in the Falcons' season-opener.

A quartet of softball players earned All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors. The Falcons were led by Gillian Fortier who was named the GNAC Player of the Year for the second time in her career as well as named to the NFCA Northeast Second Team. Fellow classmate Melissa Castillo landed on the second team while senior outfielder Megan Kelly and junior Brianna Whitfield both received third-team distinction.

It was another successful spring on the diamond for the Albertus Magnus College softball team in 2016, as the team topped the 20-win plateau for the second straight season and the fourth time in program history. The Falcons finished the year with a 22-17 overall record and earned the No. 7 seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament thanks to a 12-10 mark in league play.

In his sixth season at the helm of the team, Emielita guided the team to doubleheader sweeps of Anna Maria, Lasell, and Saint Joseph's (Maine) in GNAC action during the regular season. The Falcons also amassed three different three-game winning streaks during the year, highlighted by a season-best six-game unbeaten streak after returning to the Northeast following their spring trip.

After a record-setting year in 2015, Emielita was named the GNAC Coach of the Year.

His softball program had its best season in program history in 2015, finishing the year 27-15 and 16-5 in GNAC play. The Falcons’ 27 wins mark the most in program history, while they finished as the Runner-Up in both the GNAC and ECAC Tournaments.

The Falcons were led by Gillian Fortier who was named the GNAC Player and Rookie of the Year as she was also named to the NFCA Northeast Second Team.

Additionally, Fortier was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team after leading the Falcons in almost every statistical category. Samantha Maselli was named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team as well. Brianna Whitfield, Megan Ferraro, and Megan Kelly were named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team.

Emielita led the Falcons to a 17-win season and a GNAC Tournament appearance in the spring of 2014. The postseason appearance was the first for the program since 2006, while the 17 wins marked the most for the program since finishing with 23 in 2002.

The Falcons also earned a berth in the ECAC Tournament for the first time under Emielita.  The 17 wins also marked the third-straight season in which the Falcons finished with 16 or more wins.

For the first time under Emielita's tenure, there were multiple Falcons who earned GNAC All-Conference honors as both junior Brittney Urciuoli and freshman Amanda Jessey were named to the league's Third Team.

In back-to-back seasons in 2012 and 2013, the Falcons registered 16 victories.

Emielita previously served as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart Academy in nearby Hamden, Conn., a role in which he kept for five seasons.

He has also served as a head coach of the Connecticut Raiders for the past four seasons and from 2005-07 Emielita was the head coach of the Connecticut Hornets.
