Raucci's Double-Double Leads Falcons over Bay Path 79-63

Sophomore Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) registered her first career double-double to lead the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team over Bay Path College 79-63 on Sunday afternoon.

Raucci scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Falcons improved to 6-1 on the year with their second-straight victory. Raucci added six assists and five steals for the Falcons as well.

Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) led Albertus with 23 points as she shot 9-of-14 from the floor, including a 4-of-6 showing from behind the arc. Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) contributed with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists to mark her fifth game in double figures this season.

Bay Path opened with a 10-2 run in the first 4:25 of the contest before the Falcons battled back with an 8-0 run in a span of 3:18 to tie the ballgame at 10. After 12 minutes of play and the scored tied at 20, the Falcons went on a 12-2 run to take a 10-point lead with five minutes to go before the break. During that streak, Karle tallied eight of the Falcons' 12 points.

Albertus took a 37-26 lead at the break, led by 20 points in the paint and 16 points off 12 Bay Path turnovers. In the opening frame, Albertus shot 36.8-percent (14-38) from the field, while holding Bay Path to a 28.1-percentage (9-32).

Karle hit one three pointer in the first half and came out in the second on fire, draining three 3-pointers in the opening 3:03 of the frame.  Albertus went on to take its largest lead of the contest with 10:32 left in the second half as Raucci connected on a three-point play to give the Falcons a 68-40 advantage.

The Falcons hit 6-of-15 from behind the arc in the second half as Karle hit all three of her attempts. Freshman Annie Sutila (Bridgeport, Conn.) contributed with two made three pointers in eight attempts.

On the afternoon, the Falcons shot 43.1-percent from the floor, including an 8-of-25 showing from behind the arc. Bay Path ended the game with a 35.3-percent effort from the field as they hit just seven of their 25 attempts from three-point land. The Falcons were outrebounded 50-43 in the non-conference contest.

Albertus returns to action on Monday, Dec. 5 as the Falcons travel to Saint Joseph's College of Long Island for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
