Women's Basketball Falls to Brooklyn 75-50

Brooklyn College scored 48 points in the second half of play en route to a 75-50 win over the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team on Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Albertus went into the halftime break down just five at 27-22 before the Bulldogs came out in the second frame on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 12. The Bulldogs eventually battled their way to a 19-point advantage midway through the frame before taking the 25-point victory.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) led the Falcons with 16 points on the night, while Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

The loss drops the Falcons to 8-4 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-5.

Senior Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, R.I.) pulled down 10 rebounds for her fourth game of the year with 10 or more boards.

The Falcons shot just 7-of-38 from the floor for 18.4-percent in the opening half and finished the night shooting 24.7-percent as a team.

Brooklyn's Tiffany Thompson led the Bulldogs as she registered 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Lauren Plagainos tallied 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The Bulldogs shot 52.9-percent in the second half en route to the 25-point win.

Albertus returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 as the Falcons travel to Boston, Mass. to take on Emerson College. Game time is scheduled for noon.
