Osmond, Thompson Lifts Falcons Past Drew, 83-67

Montclair, N.J. - Junior Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn.) scored a team-best 28 points while junior Rah Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded her second double-double of the season behind 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Falcons defeated Drew University, 83-67 Saturday  afternoon to move on to the Rose City Classic Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Along with her 28 points, Osmond posted a team-high six steals as well as recorded nine-rebounds and three assists. Senior Jill Johnson (North Haven, Conn.) recorded her second straight double-digit performance recording 17 points, two rebounds and an assist.

Drew controlled the first and the majority of the second quarter before a jumper from Osmond gave the Falcons their first lead in the half, 30-29. From there, Albertus put together a 17-2 run to close out the second with a 47-31 lead over Drew.

Despite being outshot 23-20 in the third, Albertus maintained its double-digit lead and would head into the fourth and final quarter with a 67-54 lead.

Drew was unable to make the comeback as Albertus was able to secure the non-conference win and improve to 2-0 on the season. The Falcons held a 16-13 edge in points, including five from Osmond.

UP NEXT
The women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 18 as the Falcons face Saint Lawrence in the championship of the Rose City Classic. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
