Thompson Tabbed as Co-GNAC Player of the Week

Winthrop, Mass. – Senior forward Rah-Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was named the Co-Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, along with Emmanuel's Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Thompson earned the accolade for the third straight week and extended her season total to four.

The senior forward collected two more double-doubles to push her season total to 10, averaging 20.0 points, 16.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in a 1-1 week. She opened the week by registering a team-high 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a loss to No. 4 Amherst. Thompson capped the week with 20 points, 23 rebounds and three blocks in a 72-65 win over Regis (Mass.) to open GNAC play. She shot 51.6% (16-31) overall and now for the season leads the league with 16.2 rebounds per game.

Thompson currenlty leads both the conference and the NCAA in rebounds per game with 16.2 and defensive rebounds per game with 10.6. She also ranks first in the league in offensive rebounds (67), defensive rebounds (127) and total rebounds (194). 

Albertus returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 16 with a road conference showdown against Suffolk University at Emmanuel's (Mass.) Any Yosinoff Court at 7:00PM.
