Women's Basketball Cruises Past Dean, 85-26

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Behind five double-digit performances, including a season-high 16 points from Robin Selitte (Bridgeport, Conn.) and a season-high 15 points from Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to eight straight games following Saturday's 85-26 home victory over the Bulldogs of Dean College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

Albertus was led offensively by Seliltte and Zdru, who finished with a combined 31-point effort behind 16 and 15 points, respectively. Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) followed close behind Zdru with 14 points, while Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.), and Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons opened the first quarter with a dominant 15-2 run over the first 4:42 of the game. Zdru and Scott scored six points each during the run, while White drained a three-point jumper. 

  • Albertus continued to apply the pressure, finishing out the quarter on a 10-2 run to take a commanding 25-4 lead into the second stanza. White scored seven points behind a pair of lay-ups and a three-pointer, while Adrianna Faienza (New Britain, Conn.) chipped in with her own lay-up at 2:37. 

  • The teams traded baskets to open the second quarter, with the Falcons taking a 29-8 lead 3:17 into the stanza. 
  • AMC surged ahead with a 14-4 run to expand its advantage to 43-12 going into the halftime break.   
  • The Falcons continued to run the floor, rolling through the third quarter on a 20-10 run to take the 63-22 lead into the fourth and final stanza. 
  • AMC didn't let up, outscoring the Bulldogs by a 22-4 margin in the fourth to secure the 85-26 conference victory over Dean.
