Falcons Fall to Wilkes 18-2

Wilkes scored 16 first-half goals en route to a 18-2 non-conference victory over the Albertus Magnus women's lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon.

The snowy-day loss drops the Falcons' overall record to 0-2, while Wilkes opened the season with a victory.

Wilkes scored three unanswered goals in the opening three minutes of play thanks to two goals from Tori Kerr.

Albertus' Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) scored her second goal of the season to get Albertus on the board, cutting Wilkes' lead to just two goals.  Wilkes answered and finished out the half with 13 more goals.

Kerr finished the game with five goals and two assists as all her goals came in the first half.  She also assisted on Wilkes' final goal of the game by Anya Edwards.

Madeleine Brownsey also registered five goals as she added two assists.  Carley Smith added three goals and a game-high five assists.

At the final horn, Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) drilled a shot into the back of the net to score the Falcons' second goal of the game and her second goal of the season.

Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) tallied 10 saves in net for Albertus, while Wilkes' Kellie Kalada earned the victory for the Colonels. Heather Lorincz came off the bench for Wilkes and made two shots, while also allowing a goal.

The Falcons are scheduled to host Mitchell College on Thursday in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
