Norwich University scored 10 first-half goals en route to an 18-1 victory over the Albertus Magnus women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon in New Haven.  The win gives Norwich its first of the season, while the Falcons fall to 0-3 on the year and 0-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

Led by six goals from Hope Royce, Norwich scored 10 goals in the first half and eight in the second. The Cadets outshot the Falcons 35-9, including a 23-4 clip in the first half.

Norwich scored 12 unanswered goals before Albertus got on the scoreboard in the second half when freshman Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored her third goal of the season.

Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) finished the day 11 saves on 29 shots faced, including some key stops in the second half that could have extended the Cadets lead even greater.

Norwich's Irene Okubo finished the contest with seven stops in 60 minutes of work.

Royce scored five of her six goals in the first half.  Chapel Guarnieri added three goals for the Cadets, while Larissa Gokey also registered three goals.

Emma Smith finished the afternoon with two goals and two assists, while Holly Lutz added one goal and two assists for Norwich.

Albertus will take the week off as the College has its spring break and will return to action on March 16 at Bay Path College in a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
