Albertus Falls to Mount Ida 22-2

The Albertus Magnus women's lacrosse team dropped a 22-2 decision to Mount Ida on Wednesday afternoon as the Mustangs' Amanda Bowen became the program's all-time leading scorer with her 148th career goal. She finished with three goals on the afternoon.

Mount Ida jumped out to a 3-0 lead early led by a hat trick by Rebecca Beaulieu, who finished the contest with six goals. Mount Ida's Hayley Napier added five goals as well.

The Mustangs' led 8-0 before Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) got the Falcons on the scoreboard with her ninth goal of the season.  With the loss, the Falcons fall to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

At the halftime break, Mount Ida led 12-1.

Freshman Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) notched her eighth goal of the year with 2:44 left in the second half for the Falcons, who were outshot 46-8 and committed 32 turnovers.

The Mustangs grabbed 33 ground balls, and Beaulieu won five draw controls, while Kern led all players with six draw controls for Albertus.

Sydney Fredette made three saves on the afternoon, while Albertus' Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) tallied 14 saves for the Falcons.

The win for Mount Ida improves the Mustangs' record to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC.

Albertus returns home on Saturday and will host Rivier at 10:00 a.m.
