Purchase Defeats Falcons 20-3

The Albertus Magnus women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-3 decision to Purchase on Monday night in New York.  The Falcons were led by Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.), Amanda Montano (North Haven, Conn.) and Jenny Luna (Brentwood, N.Y.) as each tallied a goal in the contest.

After Purchase took a 3-0 lead, Montano scored her sixth goal of the season for the Falcons as Albertus (1-9) cut the lead to 3-1. Purchase improved to 7-0 with the win as they were led by five goals from Samantha Rich.

Zoe Hines finished the contest with four goals and three assists, including her team-leading 37th goal of the year.

After being outscored 10-1 in the first half, Albertus' Nikki Kern scored her 12th goal of the year less than four minutes into the second half to give the Falcons two on the afternoon. Midway through the half, Luna tallied her team-leading 18th goal of the year to cut the Purchase lead to 15-3.

Purchase dominated the draw controls with a 17-5 difference, while Purchase was 31-12 in groundballs.

Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) tallied five saves on the afternoon for the Falcons, while Caitlin Sosa tallied one.

Albertus heads to Framingham State on Wednesday when the Falcons play in a 4:30 p.m. match-up.
