New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell to in-state foe Mitchell, 20-10, at Celentano Field on Thursday evening in non-conference action. With their third straight setback, the Falcons move to 0-3 on the year, while the Mariners earned their first victory of the spring to improve to 1-1 overall.

Freshman attack Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) had her best game as a Falcon, scoring a team-best four goals and adding an assist for the hosts. Senior captain Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) continued her strong play with two goals for Albertus Magnus, while sophomore midfielder Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.) added a marker and a helper. Defensively, freshman Taylor Bisaillon (Columbia, Conn.) had a team-leading three caused turnovers and three other Falcons had two apiece. It was a two-headed attack for Mitchell with juniors Amanda Rowan and Ashley Murtha combining for 14 goals and four assists. Both Rowan and Murtha netted seven tallies and added two helpers apiece. On the offensive end, freshman Kate McCormack contributed three goals and classmate Francesca Pinard added two markers. Rowan registered a game-high nine draw controls and Pinard won four.

Between the pipes, AMC freshman Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) turned aside 10 shots in a losing effort. On the opposite end, senior Samantha Ryan made 10 saves to earn her first win of the spring.

Albertus Magnus came out of the gates charging, as Sarr scored twice in the first 90 seconds of play to give the home team a 2-0 edge early. Mitchell answered quickly with Rowan putting the guests on the board with her first of the day with 28:17 left in the first half. After Rowan's tally, the visitors ran off 10 straight goals before Chan stopped the Mariner run with a marker. Down the stretch in the opening half, Mitchell outscored Albertus, 6-3, to take a 17-7 edge into the break.

The scoring slowed down in the second half with each squad potting three tallies apiece. Mitchell controlled possession throughout the final 30 minutes to record the triumph.
